So far, the (now very well-read) proof copy of Neil Gaiman's new book, The Graveyard Book, has been our favourite book of 2008 and The Children's Bookshop is delighted to be able to invite you to join us for an evening with Neil Gaiman at the Church Hill Theatre, Edinburgh on the 28th October at 7pm to celebrate the launch of The Graveyard Book.

Neil will be reading from the book and talking about it and his other writing, followed by a Question and Answer session. Finally, Neil will sign copies of The Graveyard Book.

Tickets are 5 pounds with 5 pounds off The Graveyard Book on the night and are available from The Children's Bookshop; call into the shop or phone to reserve if you want to book by post.

It's nearly Hallowe'en, so why not come in fancy dress -- there might even be a prize for the person who looks as though they've made the most effort!

Multi-award-winning and bestselling sci-fi/fantasy writer Gaiman created the Sandman comic series, and wrote Coraline and Stardust (now major films). He was recently voted number three in the top 100 SF and Fantasy authors by SFX readers.

At this special event he will read from and discuss his new novel, The Graveyard Book.

Vegas Valley Book Festival, Opening Keynote

The Vegas Valley Book Festival, the largest annual literary event in Las Vegas, presents more than 50 featured authors in a full schedule of readings, panel discussions, book signings, workshops, poetry and spoken word performances, exhibitions, children's literature and special events.

Where: Most sessions and book signings take place at the historic Fifth Street School (Lewis Avenue and Fourth Street) in the heart of downtown Las Vegas. Keynote addresses take place at the Clark County Flamingo Library (1401 E. Flamingo Road).

The theater seats 399 and they will be handing out wrist bands starting at 6 p.m. They will be limited to one per person. Additionally, since they are anticipated a full house, they will be directing folks to seats in the theater.

Pending approval, there will be a video feed to two overflow rooms which can accommodate an additional 110 people each.

All sessions and programs are free and open to the public.
